I am upset to have to write a very negative review. I've had good luck here in the past on two occasions, so I enthusiastically referred my friend here for a clutch repair on her daughter's car. They charged her $377 dollars to "disassemble and inspect." Then, they quoted her $3000 for the repairs (including a $109 Bilstein Engine Flush?). James Houpt, the manager, stated the clutch kit that they use is a "Tier 1" that is $1200. He offered no other options. The car is a standard 2006 Nissan Altima. I called the Nissan dealerships in town and none of them have ever heard of a Tier 1 clutch kit, nor do they charge anything close to $1200 for the parts alone. The dealerships I spoke with stated at the most the parts would cost $800. One dealership was shocked and stated that Aastro would even receive a discount when purchasing from them, so their overhead would be much less. Also, each part that was required on Jimmy's estimate was marked up an exorbitant amount. To make a long story short, as the car was lying in pieces, James provided no alternatives or options to this magical $1200 "Tier 1" clutch kit. Taking the car apart, then telling my friend the parts alone will be $1200 is pretty much the definition of extortion. If James provided at least two or three different price options, then his estimate wouldn't fall under the definition of Extortion. Luckily, the car was towed to my home, where, for $400 + miscellaneous in parts, and a few hours on a Saturday, I got it running again just fine. Two years back, when I needed them, Aastro served me well, and James Houpt ran a pretty good shop. Since then, things have definitely changed. Beware.
