I went to Aveda Institute for a brow wax, brow color and lash color. First, the receptionist couldn't find my appointment and I had to show her the email confirmation on my mobile phone. After some more typing, she said it was because I made the appointment on line but she would find a student to do the services. When I was settled in the work area, I explained again to the student what I wanted. She riffled through the drawer to find the color and said she was going to use black. Since I'm fair with blonde hair, I told her that would be too dark and I wanted a soft taupe on the eyebrows and a darker brown on the lashes. Going through the drawer again she found a light brown for the brows and a charcoal for the lashes. No taupe or darker brown. Apparently the Institute doesn't do much brow and lash coloring. The student then announced that she'd never done coloring, therefore she didn't know how to mix the color and developer. She had to get an instructor who showed her the proportions to use, how to mix and apply the color and how long to leave it on. When she was finished, she asked me to look in the mirror hanging on the wall to see if it was okay but honestly, the lighting was so poor it was hard to see so I just paid and left. When I was in my own bathroom with adequate lighting and a handheld mirror, I could see that the lashes were barely colored, especially the lower lashes. That was about three weeks ago. The color, both on the brows and lashes, has completely washed out and I'm back to relying on mascara for color.
