When I saw a doc near the check-in desk, there was wi-fi available in the front lobby. Now that I'm with a doc near Trader Joes, there's no wi-fi in that area and sometimes there are extended wait times. I'd also recommend that on-line appointments be available for all docs. When I call for an appointment, an automated message says "some appointments can be made on-line." Why not all? The automated phone greeting also needs to be reviewed periodically to ensure it's not repetitive. It feels to me the office automation is stuck in the 1980s and needs a thorough overhaul by a professional.

Having said all this, I like the providers (three altogether over ~10 years) with which I've interacted.

The clinic was assigned to me for care and was not very close to my home. The provider I saw did not seem to enjoy her job nor treating veterans or receiving medicare reimbursement. There is no follow up, there is no extra concern or inquisitiveness nor sensitivity or understanding of soldiers/veterans issues. Bare minimum care is provided. The patient exam room is horrible, small and old. It is just very uncomfortable.

The overbook apts. Always a wait to be seen.

It's a group practice composed of GPs - anything they can't or don't want to treat, they send you to a Specialist, Or the ER! Annual Checkup is fine.

You can't talk to your PCP on the phone - you have to go through a nurse. Once I was on the line for 20 minutes.

I accompanied my husband to an appointment with Dr. Charles Wood, who had been his PCP for a little over a year. My husband had congestive heart failure and was having a lot of trouble eating - he had lost about 65 pounds in approximately 6 months. Dr. Wood's attitude was unbelievably cavalier and unconcerned, saying he wasn't the least bit worried about the weight loss...and in fact, he would be fine with my husband losing even more weight...and we were not to worry about his lack of nutrition. He was dismissive of my concerns and proceeded to change my husband's medication without consulting his cardiologist, which resulted in my husband being admitted to the ER with acute renal failure.

My new doctor took the time to get to know me and my health issues. We are working our way through the necessary tests needed to pinpoint my areas of concern.
