I had my first appointment with Dr. Shettle August 24, 2015, at 8:30 am. Even though it was early on a Monday morning, everybody was very friendly, upbeat, welcoming and helpful. When you walk in the front door the overall appearance of the front office is, "wow, how nice and the lighting in here is great. So comfortable." The young lady who was in the glasses display section was preparing the front station for the day, doing some light cleaning, dusting, and organizing. She was very friendly and engaged easily in conversation. The receptionists were as well very friendly, helpful and courteous. They were very efficient. Things just flowed, from the time I handed them my insurance cards til I handed them my finished filled-out forms. It all moved along at a good pace. I was back in the doctor's exam room easily by 8:50. That rarely happens on a first visit to any doctor after filling out all the forms, etc. I also was impressed by the doctor, who was very professional, moving from one exam to the next seamlessly and moving among patient rooms equally as seamlessly, all the while keeping right on track. I found him to be easy to talk to, affable, and very capable and confident, which is evident as shown by his knowledge of my different health issues, which he takes into consideration, looking at the big picture and how it all comes together as far as how the eyes are affected.
I had good news. Cataracts not ready yet (after ten years) for any type removal. No sign of glaucoma and said that my tear ducts seemed to be working well and the iridotomy slits made in anterior portion of my eyes are working well, draining well, so glaucoma has not rared its ugly head again bilaterally. My vision had changed minimally and he even gave me a copy of my prescription to comparative shop at another shop to get the best value for me since my insurance doesn't really cover nice, new frames and so on. I did look at the frames and options offered in his optimetrics shop and was very impressed. The prices were reasonable and very good selections. I just wanted to shop around at a couple local optical shops and may end up coming right back there.
Overall, very good experience and felt that I had a lot of attention to my needs while I was there, not a lot of waiting around for him to come into the room or back into the room. Very impressed, overall. Will definitely return in six months for my follow-up appointment.
