This is the first time I am not going to leave an excellent report for Palatine Animal Hospital.
The GOOD--the girls rec'd great care from the Dr. Hansen. She was very caring and thorough and called the kidney specialist to provide the best care possible. Great job! Dr. Riordan called me twice to provide detailed reports on their blood work and urine analysis. He took his time, was not rushed and answered all my questions. Great job!
The BAD--Neither Vet that usually sees the girls was available; one was off as scheduled and one took a last minute holiday (known the week before my appointment). The issue is our girls are 17 years old and 14 years old with several health issues. One has an eye specialist and both see a kidney specialist. It is important to me that the girls see the same Vet for continuity in care. They will be more likely to see a decline or other issues. Our appointments are usually schedule months in advance as we monitor changes in blood work and urine. I should have rec'd a call and been given the option to reschedule or see the Vet that was at the office. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she stated they don't look that far in advance (one week). No consideration was given to my issue.
The UGLY--As stated earlier one of our girls is 17 years old and can be difficult when taking blood. It was terrible! She was screaming and it went on for some time. Care needs to be given when dealing with an older dog.
