Who knew learning about the health of your peepers could be fun?
Dr. Steensma reminds me of Dr. Oz; they make learning about your health exciting. He exudes genuine passion about his profession as well as shows true concern for your eye health.
If you can, get the CT scan for your eyes (about $30 I believe).
It was so much fun to see my eyeballs, haha. It's neat to actually see all the veins and arteries that connect to it in a 3D-like format. Thanks to all the machines and technology that was used, I feel at peace about the health of my eyes.
I didn't end up buying contacts since unfortunately my eyes are extremely dry at the moment (we're working on it) so I can't comment on the brands they offer or their prices. The glasses though, are on point. They offer the ever classic Ray Bans, Kate Spade, Coach and more! Their prices are fair and the lens warranty is even better, two years if I recall correctly? (dont quote me) I believe they also advised that if my lenses were to get scratched within the first year they could smoth the scratches out for me.
The service I received from Dr. Steensma and the lovely ladies that make up his staff was amazing; they are ready to answer any question you may have. I had a lot of fun (and no shame) taking selfies with some of the frames. The girl that assisted me (forgot to ask her name- Ooops!) was so patient and took out more frames for me to look at. Even though I took a while looking over their frame selection, I never felt pressured into buying them. In fact, Dr. Steenma had his staff correct my worn-out, low quality frames (bought them online for pennies- you get what you pay for) out of courtesy. No strings attached. That's quality service for ya!
Tip: They are ALWAYS booked so schedule in your appointment ahead of time. Totally worth the wait.
Ps I went to see another 'popular' Optometrist in the Ventura area prior to coming here and their service was very poor. Close to terrible actually.
