This was a job to install "single sheet" rubber roofing on two large low-slope dormers that had experienced leaks.
Things went well most of the way and the crew was hard-working. However at the end the EPDM rubber sheets were cut to line up with the sloping sides of the dormers, which did not allow any rubber to pull down over the edges (to complete the desired umbrella effect). This resulted in unnecessary seams (at the edges) which increases the likelihood of leaks down the road. Every detail I reviewed online shows the rubber being pulled over the edges and clamped to the fascia boards.
At the gutter edges the rubber was cut properly to overhang the roof edge..
This oversight may be due to inexperience of the Project Manager, who is only a part-time employee (day job is a Police Officer). In fact, the crew leader remarked that he had never done that type of edge detail before and seemed uncomfortable doing what had been ordered to do.
