This past Saturday we had to bring our very sick kitty, 'Kitty Ortez', to Alta View to be euthanized. Kitty adopted us a few years ago, she arrived at our door emaciated and with a hip injury, we assumed she was 'dumped'. We brought Kitty to Alta View for diagnosis and rehabilitation. The diagnosis was kidney failure and possibly a congenital leg/hip problem. After some loving care and a special diet she regained most of her health. In recent weeks she essentially stop eating, though drinking lots of water, became weaker and weaker. It was obvious from those symptoms her kidneys were probably failing again. At this point we decided it was best to have Kitty put down. It was not an easy decision for us, but after the evaluation and consultation with Dr. Low, we agreed to continue with the euthanasia process. We thank Alta Vista for the excellent care and advise in the past... and especially want to thank Dr. Low for his professionalism and his clear explanation of the process and our options. It made our final decision a bit easier.
