I was scheduled for a prophylaxis cleaning. The staff/Dr. Aragona were very friendly however, I was only seen about 30 minutes past my initial scheduled appointment. I was satisfied with the quality of the oral exam but when it came to the propylaxis cleaning, the Dr. barely scaled any areas to remove any build-up... he didn't even use a prophy angle and prophy paste... an air polisher was used instead which abraded my gums & barely removed any plaque or tartar in my opinion. To me that was unethical - if someone schedules a prohylaxis cleaning, then that's what that person should be getting. I expressed my unsatisfaction with the cleaning and was offered to return for a second cleaning with the hygienist but I decided that was not in my best interest after that experience. I was charged $94 for the exam and they agreed to drop the $79 at my request for the "supposed cleaning" fee as it was not the prophylaxyis cleaning I was scheduled to get. Later I found out the office was overbooked - I should have gotten the clue that would happen when the hygienist who was supposed to clean my teeth called prior to my appointment & wanted me to come in earlier but that was inconvenient. If I knew I would have such an experience there, I would have stayed with my previous dentist which I was very happy with. Sometimes it pays off to go the extra distance for great service.
