ASAP used to be my go-to place, but I think they have become a victim of their own success; meaning they have gotten so busy the quality and thoroughness of their work has suffered greatly. The third to last time I went there the job took significantly longer than promised, but what was worse was I had to keep calling them, they never called me, even after several delays. The second to last time I went there they left a wrench in the engine bay, which made a horrible racket and could have been catastrophic. Ok, everyone makes mistakes. The final time I went there they left a vacuum hose disconnected in addition to not repairing the original problem. I will be looking for a new mechanic, which is a shame because they were really good for a long time. But 3 significant bad experiences in a row is not a coincidence, it’s a pattern.
Bert, I am truly sorry your experiences earlier this year were less than great. I will continue to try to reach you so that we can discuss it further and am saddened that you didn't feel comfortable bringing this to my attention at the time of service. It has obviously bothered you for several months and that bothers me!
The technician that left a tool in the 2001 VW Beetle engine bay on 12/12/16 was dismissed that day. We most definitely would have corrected any damage caused at no cost to you. That appears to also be the job that took longer than expected (2days) and had poor communication.
The 2006 Scion TC arrived 02/24/17 with a steering problem complaint which we did not experience during several test drives. We thoroughly inspected the steering, suspension, and all other systems and found no issues. As you know, we do not replace parts unless we experience an issue.
We absolutely had some issues during that short time frame, and were the "victim" of hiring a mediocre technician because great ones are hard to find (and cloning John is not an option yet). I assure you the "pattern" has improved drastically. We spent most of 2017 implementing solid procedures to ensure that each vehicle is more thoroughly inspected before delivery and added a mini-clean to each job. We've hired more experienced technicians and office staff who share our philosophy on workmanship & client care; team members who plan on being with us long term.
