Thankfully the practice is open to pet parents again. Honestly it was difficult to just sit in the parking lot while my pet was inside. I feel like although the care my pet received (while we had to wait outside) was just as thorough and professional as prior to COVID lockdowns/restrictions, I really wasn't ok with this policy. Afterall, I had been going to dentist appointments, eye appointments and my own doctor for the past 2 years. I would have been more than willing to wear a mask, answer screening questions, etc.... so I could be there with my pet. The appointment visit loses something when the pet parent cannot be present. Sometimes, it is a spontaneous question, or maybe it is just the ability to point out something of concern. Facial cues (even through a mask) are vital to any relationship and as a pet owner I want to have a level of trust with the techs and doctor who are caring for my pet. Requiring pet parents to remain outside feels standoffish.
