I was seen because my dog was bit by another dog. The receptionist was very helpful and got us in immediately which was excellent. The vet examined my dogs leg and he had a few lacerations. A treatment plan was outlined and I received an estimate for $1200.00. I was not given a plan B just told this was a proposed plan.
My husband and I decided not to peruse this expensive option but decided to treat our dog with antibiotics and let it heal by secondary intent which was not given to me as an option. I am in the health care industry and I know what treatment options are for humans. The vet then said he should do fine with that plan. When I arrived home I realized that my dogs wounds had not been irrigated out. My husband and I irrigated them out ourselves.
Overall I did not find the care reassuring or adequate. I feel that secondary options should be discussed that are within reason. I also felt when we did not pursue the original plan my dogs wounds were not attended to adequately and his care was no longer a priority.
