A/C on my 2002 Jetta was not working and it needed an oil change.
I was quoted $195 to diagnose the problem. I dropped my car off on Weds and by Thurs afternoon, I called to check on the status (I called 5 times no answer and their voice-mailbox was full). Once I got someone on the phone, they explained the problem wasn't mechanical but an electrical one and wanted $295 to diagnose AFTER the $195 I'd paid for a diagnosis they couldn't give me. I said no and asked to pick up my car, but they hadn't even done the oil change yet. I was informed they also suspected a coolant leak but could not find it. After some complaining from Auto Europa about their busy schedule they completed the oil change by EOD. When I arrived to collect my car, I had the owner explain what was done and what was/wasn't working. I asked if my compressor was working, he assured me it was and that wasn't the a/c problem but there was some other electrical issue.
I went to someone else who checked out the A/C both mechanical and electrical for $180 and inspected the coolant problem for free. Well, they found the coolant leak and also found the problem with the A/C and in fact, my compressor was NOT working.
I paid $200 for misdiagnosis and I'm outraged at the request for $300 for an additional "electrical" inspection. I will not be returning to Auto Europa.
