To begin and explain my 3-star review, I do not at all like the new policy that makes me give a tip/donation directly to the student without specific listed guidance from Aveda. I would prefer to leave in an envelope at the front desk. If I am expected to leave a donation for the student then say so, and make it easy for me. If not an envelope at the front desk, then a box with the students name on it at the front. This having to find the student for an uncomfortable encounter is awful.
As for the service, for a student the service was great - I understand the time it takes as these are students learning and perfecting their craft. I do not see how charging for a haircut is justified when just a trim is wanted - literally just a trim. I would donate that money to the student as it's not justified for a full charge, particularly in my case.
I would really appreciate Aveda guidance on the donation/tip ideology - tipping for a service at a salon would be very different as would the experience.
