I always have a good experience at AVEDA INSTITUTE JACKSONVILLE. When I arrived, I received a friendly greeting and check-in and was offered some warm tea while I waited for my stylist. After a ten-minute wait, I was approached and told that my stylist could not be found, but another was preparing to step in and help. While this was a little frustrating, I quickly realized when my original stylist showed back up and was reprimanded (privately) that the inconvenience wasn't a reflection of AVEDA, but a poor decision made by the stylist to go mia and then say the client wasn't in the waiting room. I am glad that AVEDA acted quickly to get the situation under control. As MY LUCK would have it, Miranda, my new stylist did an incredible job! She NAILED the photo that I brought in with me. It was not an easy assignment, two very contrasting colors of extremely icy highlights with dark chocolate color correction. I am so happy with the results, I can't stop looking at my hair. Just a few thoughts for anyone coming for the first time. 1) They are NOT professionals, they are learning, always appreciate a student who asks questions and seeks advice from the instructor or another advanced student. my best results have come from the student asking questions. 2) Make sure you prepare for a longer visit. It takes time to learn this skill and time for your hair to process. 3) BE KIND, this is the foundation of their future. MIRANDA! HUGE KUDOS TO YOU GIRL! Thank you for standing in the GAP!

I think it was her first cut, it turned out well, the instructor was helpful and positive.

The only thing I didn’t like was the product sell at the end. I felt obligated to buy something and my bill ended up being over $100, I felt robbed

I have been going to Aveda for several years now. Unfortunately yesterday was an awful experience. I literally hate my hair and want to cry when I look in the mirror. My appointment was at 9:30 am, did not leave the salon till after 5:00 pm. My hair is absolutely nothing like I wanted - cut or color. I wanted a dark (ash toned) balayage with a few icy highlights in the bottom. I now have dark roots with basically reddish/orange ombré all the way the way to the tips. I felt bad for the girl doing my hair, there was definitely a shortage of instructors and she was told 3 different things (two instructors never even saw the pictures of what I wanted). She was told the wrong toner, so they tried to strip it and do it again. The end result however was nothing what I wanted. For the cut I wanted a drastic inverted bob (the same cut I previously had it just need trimmed up). The instructor cut my long length in the front completely off. It’s all so short now and not an inverted bob. I showed 3 pictures, it’s nothing like any of them. I was so exhausted from being there all day and honestly did not realize how terrible it looked until I left, or I probably would have stayed and made them fix it. Obviously, the hair cut cannot be fixed but the hair color is awful and I will be contacting the school Monday and I hope they can fix this or otherwise I will be taking my business some place else.

Lydia is wonderful! She is very accommodating and does great work. I love Aveda with all the services they provide. I have been to other beauty schools in other cities, and Aveda is definitely far superior.
