I’ve been client of the Institute for close to a year now. When i first became a customer, my experience was consistently great. The students were very friendly, showed a level of professionalism and i walked away loving my hair & experience. I also loved the instructors - the lady from CA, w/ curly hair, the lady with the short hair & cool style and the gentleman with the mullet. They were super friendly, very supportive of the students and were always walking around making sure everyone was taken care of (student/clients). I don’t see those instructors anymore and I’ve noticed a drop off in the way students greet me, make an effort to make the experience comfortable. Since then I’ve walked away with a shorter than expected haircut (4 inches were cut off when i wanted 1.5 cut) and an incorrect color job (the color was 2 shades off from what i requested so i sat longer to have it re-done). The new instructor seems to favor certain students. She will stand around helping & chatting it up with certain types of students and then neglects everyone else. Consequently, she doesn’t come around until after the job is done and simply signs off on cuts/color that were not what i asked for. I then have to speak up to explain what i told them i wanted - that never happened before. After having great experiences when i first joined, i can see how great instructors inspire & lead great students & professionals. Showing how to greet customers, create a good experience, be friendly, wash hair properly, cut & dry hair where it’s comfortable for the client is important. How to keep the work area neat. I don’t even see girls being as friendly & warm to each other anymore. The vibe has changed. While my experiences have not been terrible, it’s the same as it used to be and Im losing confidence each time i come now. I’m worried that I’ll have a bad experience so I’ve started to look up other options. I love & appreciate the business concept. I makes sure to tip really well given the discounts & purchase a lot of products. But I’ll likely give it one more shot and f i feel the same way then I’ll likely need to find comfort somewhere else.
