The new name, Bear Hands Art Factory & Framing, is meant to describe what the store has become over the years, changing from a tiny art supply shop to an entire art center that serves a much larger community. The Bear Hands part, of course, is a play on words. We use our bare hands to create. New Bernians have Bear Hands because we live in New Bern(Bern means bear in Switzerland)! The Art Factory part is meant to describe the idea of coming here and making things, whether paintings, drawings, framed works or pottery.

We have often put children who are six in our after-school classes. They usually do fine. Please come talk to us about this, because if your child is ready for the regular art classes we wouldn't want to hold her back!
