Bedford Commons Periodontics was originally founded by Dr. Charles Neal on July 17, 1974, at 321 Lincoln Street in Manchester. It was the first periodontal practice to open in all of Manchester, and in fact, only the third to open in the entire state of New Hampshire, the first two having opened in Nashua.

After the practice grew, and was incorporated in 1978, it was renamed Charles D. Neal, D.M.D., P.A. (Professional Association). Dr. Neal practiced quality periodontics for 10 years at the Lincoln Street address before it was clear that the practice needed more room. He then moved to its current location at Bedford Commons in 1984. Later, in August 1999, Dr. Michael Neal joined the practice, and the practice was then renamed to Bedford Commons Periodontics, P.A.!
