Your receptionist supposedly checked our insurance when we got there. But she called the next day to say our insurance was not in effect and we had to pay the full amount. This is UNEXCEPTABLE. We would have cancelled our appointments if we had known our insurance was not in effect. You rely on the doctor's office to know about your insurance and to check BEFORE services are rendered. Which she said she did ???? Yeah right. She was too busy on personal phone calls.
First off, we would like to apologize for any unprofessional behavior by our staff with regards to a personal phone call in front of a patient. This policy has been readdressed with the staff since your complaint. With regards to your insurance, unfortunately the information we were provided by your vision provider stated you were eligible for all services. Your vision provider's policies state that notification of benefit eligibilities are never a guarantee of payment. Upon review, it was found that the vision provider back dated the termination of benefits to the same date as the end date of employment (01/02/2015). Again, at the time we checked 01/05/2015, the vision provider still listed you as eligible for all services. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you, but we feel that our policies and procedures were followed properly given the information we were provided by you and your insurance carrier. If you still feel an error has been made, please contact your insurance provider.
