Last Monday (10/16) I had a 2:40 appointment with Dr. Orlando and I left the Berkshire Eye Center at 4:20 p.m. I waited 40 minutes to be called by an assistant to check my eyes. There were no rooms available to meet with Dr. Orlando so I went back to the waiting room until a room was free. I finally saw Dr. Orlando 20 minutes later.

The waiting room was very crowded.

I have learned that it is best to stay away from making an appointment on Monday and to always schedule and appointment in the morning!!

When checking in, I always have a copaymeng due to medical reasonings. The receptionist refused to take my copay, and told me she wouldn't process it because this was a routine visit. I said okay and ignored the matter. When I was brought into the examination room, the employee told me I had to sign a medical waiver because the was getting billed as medical, and not routine. I expected to pay the copay, etc. But the confusion in the office is never ending.

Wait time for doctor was about 40 minutes for a 3 minute check up from him. Initial screening with assistants was prompt.

Overall, the entire process was very efficient.

I was scheduled for cataract surgery earlier this year. My physician (Dr. Shouldice) was excellent and I Believe I had the best outcomes. I can see so much better now. I was having a lot of difficulty driving at night and worried about transporting my grandchildren.

Since the surgery, I only use my glasses when I am on the computer for long periods. I have found I really don't need them at all to read. I am truly amazed every day at how much the surgery has impacted my life.

Reading the newspaper without glasses was something I never imagined. But now I can.

Also, reading the road signs while I am driving has helped me not to take any more wrong turns.

And last but not least, just the over all clarity of things (pictures, my grand children's faces, and the Psalms in church on Sunday) to name a few are now up close and personal. No more eye strain.

The initial surgery was done in Adams, MA at the Berkshire Cataract and Laser Center- The staff there are highly professional and knowledgeable in their field. The receptionist provided a warm welcome, the nurses and the anesthesiologist were wonderful. (I was very anxious - who isn't when one's eyes are being operated on. But I knew I was in the very best of hands.) Dr. Shouldice has a gift, and I feel fortunate to have had such wonderful care. Pre op, during the procedure, and post op. My questions were answered thoroughly and handouts provided as well. My recovery could not have been a better experience.

As always, excellent care from wonderfully compassionate veterinarians. Never feel rushed through an appointment and feel satisfied that all of my questions/concerns are addressed. An extremely welcoming atmosphere from everyone there...receptionists, lab techs, vets... Always a good experience for me and my furry children!
