Welcome to the Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center

Dear Clients and Friends,

Birds and exotic pets are unique animals requiring advanced knowledge in their structure, function and diseases for proper treatment. In 2006 we opened our hospital, The Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center, to provide quality care for these special pets- including birds, reptiles, snakes, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, mice and other small pocket pets, and amphibians. For all of these special animals, yearly veterinary exams tailored for their needs should be performed.

Our doctor, Dr. Susan Orosz PhD, DVM, Dipl ABVP (Avian), Dipl ECZM (Avian) has been working with birds and exotics for over 30 years exclusively. "Dr. O" is board certified in avian medicine and has taught vet students and residents at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine for 18 years.

In addition to our long experience, we strive to stay on the cutting edge with these unique animals both by giving and attending presentations at continuing education conferences. We regularly attend special conferences like the AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians), while maintaining memberships in these and other related groups. Dr Orosz has authored dozens of research articles. She speaks regularly at national and international veterinary conferences, sharing her expertise with other veterinarians. Dr. Orosz has published two avian textbooks and multiple chapters in others.

Savannah, my 18 year old African Gray, has been cared for by Dr Susan Orosz since she a baby bird. Dr O has cared to her routine needs and her near death illness a few years ago. Here is a FB post I made following yesterdays visit. You will have to use your imagination, as the pictures of Savannah having her blood pressure checked would not post to this review.

Susan Orosz, best vet ever. She Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center,best Veterinary Clinic ever. Today, she and her staff performed Savannah's well check which included taking her blood pressure. Savannah was also groomed. She left without any prescriptions. Yippeee! She is much happier being back home.
