Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing and missed the mark on many aspects. The spa facilities have potential and were kept clean. The locker rooms have lots of nice amenities to include comfy robes, toiletries, steam room, and coconut water. The lounge temperature was set very cool and we were visiting on a cold day (50 degrees). The hot tub is not hot, rather luke warm at best.
But what made our visit so disappointing was our couples massage. We had a one hour couples Swedish massage with hot stones. I get frequent massage and I am a yoga instructor, so I am very attuned with my body and comfortable with human touch. I honestly felt as though my “therapist” had some type of vendetta for me. I repeatedly requested she lighten her touch - she mostly used her elbow to kneed my muscles - and her response was super aggressive and deflective. She told me multiple times that she was massaging lightly and that my body had a lot of knots that needed working out. Even if that were the case, this wasn’t a chiropractic office and I was requesting lighter pressure. My requests shouldn’t be an issue, and instead I felt reprimanded and gaslit.
After our massage, my husband reported that his massage was the most uncomfortable spa service he’s had, but because it was my birthday gift he didn’t want to make a fuss.
It was absolutely bizarre. We’ve never experienced this, and we would not come back. $400 WASTED MONEY AND TIME, and we were both sore the following day.
