My truck would not start when I was next door to Bristow's Exclusive Auto. So I went over to ask if they could figure out what was wrong. I was getting a clicking noise when I turned the key. And I knew my batteries were good because I had a jump box and it did not make a difference. Anyway, they told me it was going to be over 550 dollars to put in a new starter.
I told them not to put in the starter and I would come in and get my truck. They charged me 122.00 dollars to tell me I needed a starter.
I went and bought one at O'Reilly auto Parts for 152.99 with a lifetime warranty. I jacked up the truck crawled under and took off 3 bolts plus the wire connection which took me about 22 minutes to replace the starter.
They said their shop rate was 107 per hour. So, how did they come up with 550 dollars?????
Lets say they charged me 200 for the starter, that is NOT a three hour JOB (at a 100 bucks and hour) to put in a starter. In my opinion they are taking advantage of customers.
