I have great difficulty with not being able to have a voice in my own health care choices. I was basically forced into taking antibiotics even though they make me sick. I understand taking these are important in some cases and so it’s a liability issue. However, I was well aware of any risks and willing to proceed anyway. Had this been any other medical provider I would probably been asked to sign that I assumed the risk, but I wasn’t given the opportunity. Once I accepted that I would have to take the medicine, the hygienist was sighing as she did my exam. And was extra forceful. She did not finish the exam by doing the gum check that is usually done. I realized then that I would have to find another provider who will listen to my concerns.
