On this most recent visit our Great Dane was neutered and we had talked with our main doctor (dr. Henry) several months ago about having his stomach tacked during this surgery. Somehow that aspect of the surgery did not get on the calendar for the neutering surgery. My husband and I frankly forgot about the tacking and we didn't see dr Henry before the surgery. She was not scheduled to perform the surgery but I would have thought it would have been in the records and that someone would have reminded us about the tacking, especially since it is recommended for giant breed dogs like Danes.

You guys are awesome! It was such a relief to call you yesterday evening at nearly 7:00 to find out you would be open until 9:00 and that we could bring in our beloved, injured cat right then. We didn't know what was wrong but it was clear something was and that he was in pain. Your staff - the techs and Dr. Knepshield - provided such loving, skilful care and put us right at ease. Our sweet boy is going to be just fine! It's wonderful to know we have such wonderful vets and vet techs close by. It makes all the difference!

Hi, My dog came in for a blood pressure check (due to medication she is taking that might raise her blood pressure). Your vet techs are fabulous and very professional and this is not a reflection on them, as they are some of the nicest and most helpful and friendly as any I have ever met. I had often thought what a great job you all do ..finding the best vet techs! So the frustrating part of my visit is more about some policies/practices of the practice. First, someone came to me in the waiting room and started to take my dog from me, saying we will be right back. Every dog is different and every owner is different ...but for my 13 year old dog, she is much calmer with an owner present (which seems important for a blood pressure check). Once in the exam room, they wanted Abbey to lay down; which I was able to get her to do immediately with a treat. Then I was told they needed to lay her over on her side. I stated Abbey has never let us turn her over; she gets very nervous, or perhaps this is painful on her old joints. I asked if they could take the blood pressure with her laying down. I was told they wanted to try to lay her over on her side, which they did, resulting in Abbey getting stressed and becaming upset. They gave up and took the blood pressure with her laying down in her initial position. But she was now already stressed, panting heavily, throughout the process. Her pressure is slightly elevated ( I believe) but I would tend to think this might be somewhat from her stress level.

So, if the blood pressure was able to be taken with her laying down, (but not on her side) why was the person who knows the dog best, not listened to initially in order to avoid stressing her and quite possibly elevating her blood pressure. I am sure there are many ways that owners can interfere during medical processes; I get it. But sometimes owners can be helpful. Again, the vet techs were very kind, gentle, professional and were quite willing to let me come with Abbey (after I asked). Thanks for your wonderful practice, your office has helped us with our dogs so much. Please take this as just a comment to consider not a criticism.

New doc today, and as usual she was great. Remaining staff was wonderful. Please don't tell me they fawn over everyone's animals.

As always my visit to Charlotte Street Animal Hospital was wonderful. The staff there is excellent and very personable. Cory Piper's needs are always met in the least stressful way which is very important to me. Thank you for all your fantastic work.
