Coast dental did a great job on my deep cleaning,
however one thing bothered me that was not sanitary,
sharpening dental tools while cleaning teeth on a stone that has been used working
on other patients, the same sharpening devices should not be used from one patient to another.
without the tool being sanitized
Coast Dental replied:
Dear Anonymous,
Checked up on your findings and have inventoried five individual sharpening stones and irons. Each of which is in a separate sterile package. Individual scaling instruments are sharpened on an as needed basis with sterile stones or irons. Sanitized instruments are below the standard of care, I think you mean sterilized. Our steam Autoclave sterilization occurs at 132 degrees Celsius at 40 PSI. This effect is double monitored by spore tests and color marker change on each individual instrument package.
Thanks for your anonymous interest, please ask to see our process and chain of sterilization on your next dental visit. The facts will certainly refute your mischaracterized conceptions.
