The receptionist at the farmington office provided me with incorrect estimates of the cost of my surgery through my insurance. When I questioned the amount she was not at all helpful and just said this is the amount. She then pretty much just stared at me until I signed the paperwork she gave me. I had my insurance paperwork with me and she did not even bother to look at it or offer a reason for why the amount she was making me sign for was so much higher. I said all along I was going to base the decision on laughing gas vs. iv sedation on the cost and therefore it was disappointing to have staff not even know the correct insurance cost to give me. Later on I had Lila call me to let me know the correct estimate because she realized that the receptionist gave me all the incorrect information. If the receptionist cannot handle insurance quotes she should at least direct patients to Lila at insurance so we can make decisions based on accurate information.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the checkout process was less than satisfactory for you. As you can imagine there are many different insurance plans, each having their own set of policies and procedures. We do our best to be well versed in all the insurance plans we participate with. This is a continuous challenge as insurance plans are constantly changing.
In most cases we recommend that a pre-treatment estimate be submitted to your insurance prior to the surgical appointment. When this estimate is returned to our office prior to the surgical appointment, we collect only the estimated patient portion at the time of the appointment.
We thank your for your patience in allowing us to obtain the correct information from your insurance company. We look forward to serving your friends and family's needs in the future.
