I have been going to Countryside for 13 + years w my dog and my son also goes here with his dog. I always pay around $160 for an annual visit and plan for this. This time ( first time ever) my bill was well over $400. I was not prepared for that. The technician told me that so usually use two preventatives on Maggie for heartworm and flea and tick. And I believed her and got both. I looked back in my dogs papers and see so have never done this. She also suggested I get a blood panel which I need for heartworm anyway. That is over $165 which I did not know until checkout. I wish the VET would have checked what the technician recommended. We may not have needed the extra $160 worth for an annual exam. I also told them I wanted the same shampoo I got last time to wash Maggie, it was $11 last time. This time I see it was $20! I hate to feel gouged at a place we have gone to for a long time, but I do.
Hi Stacey and Bobby, We are very sorry to hear you are frustrated with the amount your bill came to. After looking into this we are not seeing a test for $165.00 that was performed that day. The extra $160.00 you are seeing was Nexgard, which you purchased 7 months worth instead of the 1 month you purchased last year. It looks as though you bought 7 months worth of Heartgard as well. We do highly recommend using both products as Nexgard is for flea and tick prevention and Heartgard is for heartworm as well as a monthly dewormer. I apologize if there has been any confusion regarding prevention. It looks as though the shampoo you purchased prior, we no longer carry and therefore we offered an alterative. I would be more then happy to talk with you to discuss further if you have any other questions. We hope you have great week and stay warm!

Finding any vet that is willing to treat chickens is a rare thing. Finding a vet that understands that chickens deserve the same respect and good health care as cats, dogs, and other pets is ever rarer. Many vets simply do not "get" chickens. So, I was delighted when I found Dr. Mallek at the Countryside Vet Clinic. Dr. Mallek gets chickens. I was impressed with her obvious extensive knowledge of the physiology, pathology, and treatment of chickens and the compassionate way she treated my ailing hen, Persy. This was my first visit to Countryside Vet Clinic, but it will not be my last.
