Our new dog's first appointment went beautifully. Although he was not accustomed to vet visits and comparative strangers handling him, he did rather well, considering his lack of experience. Everyone was slow and careful and reassuring to him. We are very happy to find a great vet and staff for our "baby."
At home, he took the heartworm preventative pill readily. The flea pill was a different story. We didn't force it, but offered it repeatedly, and he creatively declined to take it just as repeatedly. Until we generously slathered the bit of pill with the soft inner portion of Brie cheese. He devoured each bite and licked every portion of my hand to get every last bit of gooey goodness. Now we know.
He continues to thrive in his new living environment and he is settling into new routines easily.
