I want to share my experience to let you know why I stopped going to Dental Partners - East Ridge. About 5-6 years ago, I got sick. I have chronic pain and fatigue throughout my body. As a result, because of the fatigue and depression from the disorder, my teeth, and overall ability to care for myself deteriorated. Dr. Crisman was so kind and made me feel safe and ready to fix my teeth head on. But I was scared. I often cried in the office and we had to postpone an extraction because I was having anxiety with the gas. We scheduled a surgery to extract multiple teeth, but I was too scared to go.

I finally decided that something had to be done about a year later. I was determined to fix my teeth and get rid of the constant pain that had now become unbearable. I was then appointed to Dr Lu, The first time with Dr Lu, I explained that I was having severe pain and he didn’t even look at my teeth. I asked if he could prescribe anything for the extreme pain and he wouldn’t. He acted like I was a drug addict or something. It hurt. He scheduled the surgery and sent me off. After I had successfully extracted my 8 teeth, I still had severe pain. I went back to the surgeon (my faith in Dr Lu already shaken) and the surgeon thought there might be shards of teeth left from the extraction. They pulled some shards out. Still severe pain.

I decided to go back to Dr Lu after 5-6 visits back to the surgeon and Dr Lu finally had a look in my mouth. He decided it was because one additional tooth needed to be pulled. I spent over 6 months in pain because he didn’t look at my teeth the first time. He could have looked in and added this tooth to the extractions in the first place. He pulled the tooth and sent me on my way, again refusing pain medication because I guess to him, I looked like I was “drug-seeking”, because admittedly, I am a chubby, unkempt white guy in his mid-thirties, and probably is who he pictures as someone trying to pillage ten 5mg Hydrocodone pills to get high. (My chronic pain makes it so opiates don’t even really do anything, but they help with severe, sharp pains.)

Given my chronic pain, I actually have a decent pain threshold, so believe me when I say this tooth pain was severe and constant. I had to literally go to the ER twice because I was in so much pain (and Dr Lu really didn’t care).

Dr Lu is the worst doctor of any kind, that I have ever had. He made me feel stupid, like a drug addict and like I was trash for letting my teeth get this bad. I was already embarrassed and he made me feel worthless. I cried driving home after every appointment with him.

That said, Dr Crisman was incredible. He was kind and understanding and made me feel better about my teeth problems, and made me feel confident that we could get them fixed.

Unfortunately, because I refuse to deal with Dr Lu ever again, I have had to choose a new dental office. I hope that Dr Lu can take what I experienced from this ordeal and learn from it. If I was an old lady, he would have treated me completely different (I expect). I know he’s a younger guy, so hopefully he has room to grow, but I wanted to be clear how much this HURT me, during a time I was already terrified.

I recommend this office, but only if you get Dr Crisman.
