Where I am usually satisfied with our visits, this last time the staff were lacking in empathy and professionalism. I took my 4 y.o. for his 6-month cleaning/check-up. He is already nervous and scared of going to the dentist because he doesn't like the vibration of the brushing tool. As we sat in the waiting room, we watched two other children called back WITH their parent. When the hygienist came out for my son, who was shaking in his seat, she told me that I would not be permitted to go back because they are "limiting the number of people back there." Um, okay....we just saw two other parents go back with their children. I didn't argue it and let him go. A while later they called me back (where is the consistency here?) and I met "Dr. Anna." Dr. Anna acted irritated with me, informing that she found two cavities. A surprise to us, being that we brush and floss religiously. I asked where and she said by the back molars. I mentioned I'm familiar with the one specific area because it is difficult getting floss in between the teeth there. Dr. Anna said, "Well you have to help him" in an impatient tone. Yes thank you, Dr. Anna. I am perfectly aware that my 4 year old needs assistance with brushing and flossing his teeth. She added that "MAYBE IF he is more mature next time..." they will do the fillings if the cavities have gotten worse. Two things here: 1) Filling cavities is now optional? and 2) I can only interpret that the reference to his level of maturity meant she had difficulty with his cooperation, which could have been prevented if I was with him from the beginning. I have never had any issues with the staff prior to this encounter. We will continue to go to Dr. Vij and Associates, however we will not be seeing Dr. Anna again. The front desk staff were amazing, as always, and the other hygienists we saw taking children back were kind and friendly, as usual.
