Although the lot was over-flowing with cars waiting to be worked on, I was seen the same day and my tires were replaced within 3 hours. Because it was so busy, I watched the gentlemen working there dodge in and out quickly, search for keys, and speak with customers as clearly and concisely as possible. There's no shooting the breeze here. BUT when the guy helping me (Jack) dodged out, I was asked 3 other times by other employees if I was being helped. It shows me that even though they're super busy, they still put timely service at top priority. Really well-managed store front!
Jack was clear with me from the get-go regarding price, time expectation and what needs to be done. Our interaction was very brief but he seemed friendly and professional; even though he was pulled in many directions. I trusted him instantly. Actually, it's quite a marvel what he does. Were I in his shoes, I don't think I could handle that kind of pressure.
They don't use paper floor liners or surprise you with a free car wash. The bathroom is a clean-ish one room bathroom with no frills. The spacious waiting area is standard as standard gets but with two worn out massage chairs that may or may not actually work. LOL... When I got there, one older gentleman customer had just woken from a nap in one. I don't remember seeing coffee, but really if you want coffee you can go to Denny's next door. Discount Tire Center is a place to get what you need done, done. And seeing how busy it is, most people don't feel the need for frills or chatty customer service.
As for price- honestly, I don't know if I got the best price. I never shopped around much. It was about $40 less than what I've paid at the dealership, so I'm happy with that. It just seemed very steep, but maybe it's because hybrid tires are just ridiculously expensive in general.
Given that LA is terrible about leaving nails in parking lots and not repairing pot holes, I'm certain I'll need tires again soon. And I'm pretty sure I'll come back to Discount Tire Center when I do.
