I took my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder because it started overheating. This car has 155K+ miles and I know that is old but I wanted to know the recommendation of an experience mechanic so I took my car to Don & Harold to see if it was worth the investment.
I was told that the car needed a new fan blade and a fan clutch so they replaced it. The car sounded loud but I don't mind as long as the car does not overheats. Unfortunately that was not the case. I took it back after taking a short ride and the car showed overheating again.
This time Don called me and told me it was the thermostat, radiator cap, and some other hoses that may be causing the problem. I was a little hesitant to put more money into the car but Don told me that doing this will resolve the overheating so I agreed to the repair.
After spending 1 week at the shop I took my car from Long Beach to Riverside and the car overheated mid way.
I can not argue about the good attention I received from all the staff and that the work was done professionally but what I wanted it was for an honest opinion if it was really worth it as I did not took my car to get parts replaced I took it to fix an overheating problem and the second time I was told the problem was fixed. I am afraid to take my car back because if we just keep swapping component until we find the solution for me that is just not good troubleshooting.
I may try to take my other car later on to Don & Harold's but I just have a bad taste right now.
