I was very satisfied except for one thing:

It took such a long time that I think my stylist got tired and went without lunch. I felt rushed at the end of my appointment and so my hair is not as I thought it was. There is too much gray left in the "root" of my hair. you really can't tell that it has even been colored. I have used the Aveda salons before in another state and was always satisfied, however I didn't get the lotion on my hands until I mentioned it and it was rushed as I was leaving the salon. I never got the neck massage that was always provided in Alabama.

I will definitely be back, however I wish that there would be more attention to the stylist and if it takes a longer than usual period maybe you could get her some assistance? give her a break? and maybe you could understand that if I am ok with the longer time that it requires, you should be also and not rush through my appointment. I would have been able to voice my concerns if I had, had a minute to look at the finished product instead of being rushed out the door......

Thanks so much for the service.

Very good experience. Didnt get as many layers as I was thinking of (short one layer) but i still got the results: lighter hair that actually was able to give into its natural wave.

The student cut my daughter's hair short enough to remove damage, but not so short that it was shocking. She really listened and delivered what my daughter wanted.

I started going to Douglas J institute about 2 years ago. My stylist graduated and moved to a different state. Before trying the institute I have went to about 5 or more different salons. Each Salon left me sad and less trusting of any salon. So after finding a good stylist I felt I trusted, then losing her, I didn't want to start my search over again. I took my hair into my own hands. I stripped me hair and have been using box dyes for 8 months. But my hair wasn't what I wanted. I went into the institute for a trim and the stylist did a great job. 2 months later I went in again hoping to get my old hair back. I went in expecting to get scolded for what I have done to my hair. Instead my stylist and her educator talked me through what I have done and how to fix it so I can get my hair back to what I want. Everyone is always so kind and considerate. They were understanding. Even if they thought I was completely stupid, they didn't show it. And it's half the price of any salon around EL. If you like saving money and you like your hair looking exceptional, go to Douglas J Institute.

My advice to anyone who has stripped and/ or dyed their hair and want it changed/fixed - go to Douglas Aveda J Insitute!! These women are students. They understand people do stupid things and they will do everything they can to fix it.

Generally LOVE it here! This time though the desk service was lacking...not mean, but not friendly, didn't ask to take our coats or offer us drinks and was kind of bothered we asked them to take our coats.
