I started having a toothache about a month before my scheduled exam/cleaning appointment with Dr. Ritchey. So when I went in for that appointment I let Dr. Ritchey know about the problem. Turns out an old filling went bad and decay got behind it. I live pretty fair away from her office and she and her team did a great job making room to treat me that same afternoon so I didn't have to come back for 2nd appointment. She did a great job numbing the area, cleaning out the infection and restoring the filling. However she also noted that she had to drill pretty deep and it was possible a root canal might be needed if it remained sore for more than a few days.
Turns out that a root canal was necessary to save the tooth and her office set me up with a specialist to do the root canal. After that was done (the specialist did a great job too), Dr. Ritchie put on the permanent crown over the saved tooth. My old dentist would have required two appointments, a temporary crown and a couple of weeks to have a crown made and installed. But Dr. Ritchey did it during a single 90 minute visit. She uses a computer, software and a 3D-printer to image the tooth and manufacture it in her office while you wait. Pretty slick! She also reduced the cost of the crown by the payment I had made earlier for the filling which I greatly appreciated.
Getting a filling, a root canal and a crown isn't a lot of fun. But Dr. Ritchey made it painless, I was able to get it done in two visits to her office instead of the four that it would have taken at some dentists, and she didn't charge me for the initial filling. Overall, I was pleased with the procedures, scheduling of the work, cost and the results.
