Friday night's Spin and Strength class is usually a favorite, but a substitute teacher last week made it tough. I know all instructors have their own styles, and Lauren was okay, but I felt like her experience with the strength portion was questionable, and her style of using the microphone and speaking frequently and in a lulling voice, just didn't work for me. I kept finding I'd mentally drifted off, wasn't focused, and wasn't pushing myself as hard as I usually do with more focused instruction.
She also tended to do exercises with us, then stop to go check the music or do something else, causing us all to stop too - she'd then laugh and tell us to keep going saying something like "this isn't MY class." Not cool. She always said things like "and we're pressing" before stopping herself, which I'd realize too late meant "keep going with the presses even though I'm stopping." I was not the only one confused.
All in all, really appreciative she stepped in. A weird class was better than no class. The spinning portion wasn't bad. Thanks.
