My appointment with the doctor was pleasant and professional. However, there were several women in the waiting room whose faces were really scary. They looked like they had had lots of work done: skin unnaturally taut and stretched, weird angles to their eyes and eyebrows. It occurred to me that perhaps people who work in cosmetic surgery have lost sight of what really natural faces look like and so to them, these women looked good. They did not. I was so shaken by the sight of these women and the fact that everyone seemed so ok with their look that it made me re-think the idea of cosmetic surgery altogether. Although the doctor assured me that neither my eyes nor my mouth would change as a result of the surgery, it was contradicted by the sight of these women who had had work done at that office. Additionally, the doctor did not show me any before-and-after photos. I would have like to have seen some. All in all, I might just rather look my age than look weird.
