I am a patient (which is not the same as a customer!) of Dr. Pan and am very happy about the care I have received at Esana. I had bilateral mastectomies many years ago and recently saw Dr. Pan for replacement of saline implants, one of which was damaged during a recent surgery for a new breast cancer. So this is not a "nip and tuck" situation, but more of a "this old house" situation in which a structure was damaged during a necessary repair to prevent spread of toxic waste, necessitating restoration of a damaged frame. Dr. Pan and Gaby, the PA who works with her, are warm, professional, gentle and extremely competent. I am very pleased with the new implants that I didn't even know I needed! My only comment is that when seeing a cosmetic surgeon for a medically indicated surgery, it is a bit jarring to feel like a customer at a spa, surrounded by ads and brochures for "enhancing" services - surgeries, peels, lasers, sculpting, etc.to enhance and beautify and "reverse the aging process." During cancer treatment, it is hard to feel beautiful, and one is generally trying to get acceptable results and survive. The aging process is painfully obvious and it feels like a chore just to keep it from accelerating, let alone reversing. It's hard to be reminded of our culture's obsession with perfection and beauty when just trying to replace broken parts and feel whole. I understand that this strange intersection of medicine, business and beauty is not particular to Esana Spa, but is part of the cosmetic surgery world in general. So, within this flawed scenario, in which treatment of serious medical issues shares space with people wanting to look younger and more "perfect" Esana does a very good job of making all of us feel like our privacy and dignity are intact and that we are getting the best care possible.
