Positives: loved the cheerful yellow awnings outside, great customer service on the phone, really liked the text/email reminders/communication, dr was knowledgeable and helpful, liked that tech cleaned off machines in front of me
Bizarreness: the screening room is kinda junky (large metal plates on the wall half covered by a screen), but whatever... so the tech snapped a blood pressure device on my wrist, told me to RELAX, put my feet a certain way, hold the wrist over my heart, and THEN w/o really prepping me (as I'm still supposed to be trying to relax for the blood pressure), started coming at me with the eye pressure tester (the little thing that almost touches your eye)... really?! Who can relax AND try not to blink with that all happening at once/ not knowing what's going on?! I told her I was kinda freaking out about it, but she didn't really respond. Well the blood pressure thing didn't work after 2 or 3 tries so she just moved on (oh well?) AND she fumbled the eye pressure tester before she could use it on me. It broke (I felt bad- she said it's never good when you break a $1000 instrument). She left me alone in the junky room for a good 5-10 minutes while she put in new batteries and tried to repair it (which is probably why I had so much time to think about how icky it is). I almost left then, but needed to just get a check up. The other bizarre thing is she asked me THREE separate times why I was there. Twice in the screening room and again in the exam room. I get it that maybe she was asking required questions, but she could have sounded like she was listening the first few times if she said something different like, "So I heard you say you're here just for a regular exam..." She was a nice person and I felt bad for her that she broke the expensive device. :(
Fortunately, the dr kind of redeemed it, I felt like I got what I came for in the end... thank you... but I was searching for a good eye dr for my whole family and unfortunately I don't feel like it's the kind of place I can trust all my kiddos eyes with. Many good qualities, but a lot that didn't feel "right" to me. I'm so sorry. I hope you were able to get the screening devices working again.
"We appreciate your feedback to the experience you had with us at Eye Care Centers and are sorry to hear it was not an ideal one. We have reviewed your experience with our technicians as an opportunity to learn and grow. We believe its good to remember to take a deep breath and stay calm during our busy days so thank you for reminding us of that. We see thousands of patients and their families each year and while we might not be the clinic you ultimately choose for your family, we would appreciate any opportunity for a second chance. Thank you again for your feedback, it is important to us, and we wish you all the best."
