I came in for an initial visit and teeth cleaning. I knew that I need some other work done too but I wanted a cleaning, an exam, and recommendations for future care. Rather than doing a routine cleaning and giving me a quote for a follow-up visit, they refused to clean my teeth unless I paid nearly $2k in services on my first visit. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. I have no idea what else to say. For lack of better words, it was the most shocking, unprofessional thing I've ever experienced, in any industry or service in my life (and I've experienced a lot working in the housing and development sector). You might think I'm being cheap and don't take care of my teeth. Quite the opposite. I've paid thousands in the past for dental work including crowns, rebuilding my front teeth which were damaged from accidents, and several fillings. I grind/clench my teeth and happen to have bad gums. I was told it would be 'malpractice' if they cleaned my teeth without doing the other work. I have had the same diagnosis previously and have been told the work they suggested to me is recommended, but is optional. Don't go see them unless you have deep pockets and don't care what you pay for. I was blindsided by this experience earlier this week. I have already found another dentist to clean my teeth and talk to me in a reasonable manner without trying to hold me hostage for thousands of dollars. Good riddance.
