I chose Focus Salon based on its many and consistently positive reviews. Without hesitation I will gladly continue the trend. From the time I made my appointment - to being greeted on the day of my appointment - to Kim welcoming me to his salon and then his chair - to him showcasing his artistry like he's Edward Scissorhands - to our goodbyes (with a hug!).... . I was given a personable, individualized experience and service as if it's simply part of their culture.
Kim listened attentively to my haircut desire and he delivered while putting his own twist on it based on my hair, shape of my face, and lifestyle. I absolutely love it when a stylist not only listens to what you want (and deliver), but who can also give his/her input and why they advise to go one way and not necessarily the other.
Finding the place was a *little* challenging when arriving from the alley. But...if you peruse their website prior to your visit (like I did) you will see they advise it's OK to park in O-Shea's parking lot, which gives you a landmark as to where the salon is situated. Even with this helpful information the salon is tucked away with no signage. A simple phone call from the alley resolved this quickly.
I feel the prices are reasonable. They use Paul Mitchell products, which I think is a good line of products. The salon is well laid out and organized. One thing they have that I've not noticed before in any other salon is a bar of hooks located behind the mirror. This smart space idea is used to hang purses, sweaters, jackets, etc. I love that idea because I"ve always hated sitting my purse on the floor and out in the open when I'm away getting my hair shampooed.
I will definitely make another appointment. Lastly, Kim is reallly nice, cool, and easy to talk and joke around with.
