Dr. Ross and the staff at Fox Hollow were nothing short of wonderful. We are new to this hospital, so this was our first visit here after some bad experiences at a few other veterinary clinics. We took our 2 dogs in for annual exams, vaccinations and dental cleanings. It was an extremely stressful/rough start to the morning when we realized one of our pups (Dobby) just wasn't having it when the staff was preparing to sedate him for the dental procedure. We did have a plan of action ahead of time as our dogs tend to be extremely fearful and nervous especially when going to the vet, but unfortunately my husband and I did not anticipate that Dobby would be so fearful that he would turn aggressive toward everyone including ourselves. Apparently he is also a real Houdini because even when we managed to place him in a muzzle he got out of it somehow.
After many attempts to keep him safe and unharmed while he flopped around like a fish out of water, we surely thought the doc would tell us it would not be possible to examine Dobby and even more impossible to complete the dental cleaning. To our surprise the doctor came out and very calmly said, "Well, on to Plan C for Dobby!" We discussed the next option that would surely work without continuing to over stress Dobby and my husband and I were on our way out.
At this point I really doubt we would have left Dobby after such a dramatic experience, but we could tell that even after all of this Dr. Ross and his staff really knew what they were doing and did care about the well-being of our animals.
It is obviously so important to take your fur babies in for annual exams, but their teeth also need to be addressed to avoid any infections, extractions or future health issues that many people don't realized can be caused by poor dental hygiene. When I went back in the afternoon to pick them up, Dobby had some bumps and bruises from his dramatic display that morning. The doc did administer an extra antibiotic and pain injection to help Dobby's healing as I'm sure he will be sore for the next couple of days, poor thing. Our pets are our family and after some bad experiences with other vet clinics, Fox Hollow will definitely be our new veterinary hospital!
We are giving our pups some extra TLC for the next week, but we are so happy with how they handled our entire experience. The staff was so apologetic that Dobby had even gotten to that level of such stress and were all very sweet to say goodbye to both pups as we left that day. Thank you Fox Hollow for showing such great care and attention to Dobby and Frankie even though they clearly have some issues we need to continue to help them with!
