3 stars Mary R Featured review
First, I want to say that my visit with Dr. Brown was AMAZING! I love her and I'd give her 5 stars. I was supposed to see Dr. Carbonell but she had to do an emergency surgery. Dr. Brown was so nice, thorough and personable. It was a lovely annual checkup.
The reason I'm giving this visit 3 stars is because of my visit with Dr. Horvat directly after the checkup. I called Gotham Vet Center on Saturday, February 25th at 10:45 AM. I spoke to a woman and told her I wanted to get my dog a teeth cleaning consultation. She said that Dr. Horvat only does the free consultations weekdays in the morning and evening. So, I told her to put me down for 5:30 PM. Then I told her to put me down for Scarlett's annual checkup at 5PM because I might as well get it done while I'm there. (I don't live near there.)
After our great checkup with Dr. Brown, who told us that we have one tooth in the back that Dr. Horvat will likely need to check out, we were waiting for Dr. Horvat to free up and were told that we aren't even on the schedule and that I never booked an appointment. Not true at all. They said they'd fit me in anyways, I thank them, and I shrugged it off.
When I got into Dr. Horvat's office, he was not in a good mood. He told us that all six of Scarlett's front upper teeth are dying and might need to be extracted. I found this bizarre - I had just gotten out of a checkup with Dr. Brown, who looked at her teeth and told me that a tooth in the way back looks like it has tartar buildup, but she failed to comment on the FRONT SIX that were dying? I don't think so.
Aside from the highly bizarre prognosis of my three-year-old dog's front six teeth dying, Dr. Horvat was snippy, rude and cold. He clearly did not want to take me.
I have gone to Gotham Veterinary for a long time and I love most of the doctors there, but I was saddened by my visit with Dr. Horvat, and would not recommend him to anyone. I will most definitely be seeking a second opinion elsewhere.
Dear Ms. Rydzeski,
Please accept our apologies for the scheduling mix-up that you experienced. We are looking into this situation with our front desk to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
Dr. Brown wanted to clarify that she is not a specialist in veterinary dentistry, which is why she advised you meet with our dental specialist to get a thorough dental evaluation. In regards to the six front teeth, only x-rays will confirm exactly what is going on with them. For this reason we don't make final recommendations until we have xrays, which happens at the time of the dental procedure and then we call to discuss with you. We never proceed with any oral surgery without permission from the owners. Dr. Brown would be happy to discuss this with you further.
Again, we apologize for the scheduling error and are glad to hear that you had a good check-up with Dr. Brown. We are honored to have the opportunity to care for Scarlett.
Best regards,
Gotham Veterinary Center

Excellent as always, even when we are not seeing the doctor but just getting a heart worm test. Not treated as routine.
