Everyone at the Grandview Animal Clinic is absolutely wonderful! Dr. Mike is always very attentive in his care for pets (and their owners), and is a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend him enough.

Dr. Mike and his staff squeezed Frankie in for his first flu shot this week. I always appreciate their willingness to get Frankie in last minute.

Dr. Mike and his crew are the absolute best. They made me and my new addition feel right at home. My dog was greeted with love and affection. He was treated with utter respect. I highly recommend Dr. Mike to anyone in need of a quality veterinarian.

Our visit at the Grandview Animal Clinic was amazing. Dr. Mike was very informative and gave us all the information we need. He made us feel very comfortable with our new puppy and gave us the medication to treat/prevent any issues with our puppy. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming and I can easily say our dog loved it there!

Dr. Mike was wonderful as always. I wasn't pleased with the additional physical that was given though. We came in just for a simple shot and then a physical was just done and an additional $50 tab was put on my bill. We've seen Dr. Mike plenty of times over the past 4 months and the last time was probably 2 months ago so a physical wasn't needed considering the pup was feeling perfectly fine. It's a little frustrating I can't get out of the vet office under $100...ever...not once. Over the past 4 months I'm sure I've spent over $1,200 on my animals.

When we were going through diarrhea issues, there was a consistent request to keep bringing the pup back in to retest the poop and take additional steps. Over $300 later, I just decided to change the food and everything worked out within 3 days. I wondered why he didn't recommend this to begin with?

I really appreciate Dr. Mike's level of care and how well he does with the animals and explaining things to the owners, however sometimes I wish there were more cost effective and reasonable prescriptions before the bill gets too high. Also, adding additional fees when they weren't requested isn't cool.

Because of how great Dr. Mike is, I will continue to come here, but I must admit there is a certain level of trust that is questioned now because of this which isn't a pleasant feeling.

Grandview Animal Clinic - Mike Reidelbach, DVM replied:

Dear Ms. Skoda,

Thank you for your candid review of our veterinary practice. I always appreciate feedback from our clients in order to help us improve our customer service and patient care. I am so sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication regarding the expectations and fees associated with your last visit. Please allow me to address the specific concerns you brought up in your review.

We perform complete physical examinations for every pet that receives immunizations at our clinic. Unfortunately, our patients cannot tell us when and where it hurts, if they feel completely better after an illness, or if they feel perfectly fine, so this can be difficult to evaluate without a complete twelve-system physical examination. This was especially important with regards to your sweet puppy, as the last visit before her vaccines was three and a half months prior, and was addressing a recurring illness. Just like children going through a vaccination series, puppies grow and change very quickly in their first year, and the physical examinations help to ensure that your puppy was healthy enough to withstand the rigors to the immune system of the two vaccinations she received that day. Her "simple shot" was actually two types of vaccinations that could be safely combined into one injection, which increases our patient's comfort. The distemper and lepto vaccinations she received provide protection for five different and potentially deadly viruses, such as leptospirosis, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and distemper, so it was vital to ensure that she was in good health prior to receiving this injection. We strive to provide the best care while remaining competitively priced, and the Complete Medical Consultation fee of $48.00, which covers the veterinarian's twelve system physical examination, client education, and a minimum of 30 minutes of direct doctor interaction, is a standard of care at our practice.

I also certainly understand the frustration that can occur when trying to diagnose and treat diarrhea in a pet. On her very first visit to our clinic the decision was made not to pursue the vaccinations that prompted the initial visit, but to address the vomiting and diarrhea your puppy had experienced for 3 days that was brought up during the consultation. The decision was made to treat conservatively with a change to a bland diet and some supportive medication. While she did initially improve, she developed diarrhea again. Puppies can develop diarrhea for many reasons, such as intestinal worms, protozoa, and dietary indiscretion (such as sudden food changes or an intolerance to a specific diet), and performing diagnostic testing is an essential step in forming an accurate diagnosis and implementing the correct treatment. As we discovered with the testing of her stool, she did have a bacterial overgrowth which was successfully treated with antibiotics and supportive dietary feeding. I was so glad to read that your diet change is also working! Sudden dietary changes can sometimes lead to diarrhea in dogs, so when addressing diarrhea, a dietary change is reserved as a last step. I am so glad this was not the case with your girl.

We strive to be very transparent with the costs associated with our treatment plans, and I apologize that we missed the mark with your last visit. The trust our clients have in us is paramount to our ability to provide the best care for our patients and is a cornerstone of our practice. In the future, we will be happy to provide detailed estimates to you prior to any services being rendered. As always, feel free to reach out to me directly anytime! Sincerely, Dr. Mike

Have allot of respect and really like Dr. Mike. He always takes his time, explains everything and answers all my questions. His staff is always friendly and accommodating. Today's visit was a emergency, we called to explain our situation and Dr. Mike had us coming right over. He knows Maddie's and Spike's history and always spends the extra time and effort to make sure they are well cared for. I would recommend him without hesitation.

When I arrived it was warm only to find out after getting foils in my hair it was over 85 degrees per the ac repair man. I asked why they would not call the clients to inform them so they can decide if they want to sit in this heat indoors.....I was told they never close....well I don't think it would be closing but just good customer service to let the customers know. I certainly would have rescheduled instead of paying $100 plus tip for a partial highlight. I conveyed this to the stylist and the front desk but nobody seemed to even appreciate the feedback. Nor were they even apologetic....not one I am sorry for the inconvenience. Seems almost like an air of attitude in the salon versus good customer service.
