When we walked in the door yesterday, I saw Jamie's smiling face behind the desk and knew it was her birthday because I saw it in my feed on Facebook this morning, so I wished her a happy birthday! We then discovered that I had mistaken our appointment date -- it was actually in a week from yesterday, but I just saw 'Tuesday' in my reminder email without checking the date. Bummer! But we had a chance to wish Jamie a happy birthday and pet the wonderful little doggie that was in the office. My son loves animals and I'll bet that kids who are anxious about being at the dentist are helped by having her around. We said our goodbyes and left, ready to return next week.
As we were pulling out, we were waved down -- "Wait, we have the time to see you today if you'd like to stay!" Why, yes! That was so helpful to us and we so appreciated their flexibility. My son's teeth were cleaned and polished. They knew what flavor of polish he had last time and asked if they wanted it again (he did). Miriam was wonderful at updating me to what she was seeing with his teeth and the best part is how much they educate their patients about oral hygiene and what to look for and pay special attention to, etc. I had no idea about flossing before brushing. I've always brushed and then flossed. But as Miriam explained it, it made perfect sense to floss and then brush! We've altered our routine already. She then asked about what flavor fluoride treatment he'd like (Cotton Candy) and we finished very quickly.
Dr. Lele then came over and examined his teeth. I am amazed that he remembered details of my son's dental health so clearly with all of the patients they have. My son had knocked out a tooth as a preschooler, and Dr. Lele remembered the details perfectly and explained how his permanent teeth would likely be positioned as he continues to grow. We again went over the flossing before brushing routine, too. We were the last patients there but we never felt rushed, even though we had been added on since I had gotten our appointment date wrong. Our son was so happy to get his No Cavity Club certificate and his goody bag with a new toothbrush, floss, and a glider airplane which he loves.
I'm very impressed with the whole office. The physical use of space (we were on the "soccer side" yesterday, the equipment, the people, the routine of the workflow, etc., and especially the employees. Too often, offices require too much work from too few employees and it is nice to find a place where the appointment flows so smoothly because they are properly staffed. I highly recommend them, as does my 6-year-old. They know what they're doing and they do it well and educate their patients so they have continued good oral health. My son enthusiastically flossed and then brushed last night, with his new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss, of course!
We would never consider going anywhere else.
