The hygienist works too quickly and injects too much anesthia to the patients.
We are very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience in our office and wish to address your concerns by assuring you that our hygienist never uses more than the recommended and safe amount of local anesthetic for deep cleanings. The amount of anesthetic used for this procedure differs greatly from what might ordinarily be used for restorative treatment on an individual tooth due to the fact that half of the mouth, as many as sixteen teeth, need to be numbed at once. It can therefor seem as though you have been given a lot of anesthetic. It is normal for this type of anesthesia to last several hours after the appointment and patients may have varying reactions to the local anesthetic. Our hygienist always gives the smallest amount of anesthesia necessary for safely and comfortably completing the treatment. The appointment time for each deep cleaning is usually always an hour, though certain exceptions may be made depending on the severity of the case. We always encourage patients to voice any concerns that they may have at the time of their appointment, that way concerns may be addressed right away.
