Great services. I LOVED Stephanie and LOVED Jules. They were competent, kind and effective. Will return to them as my regular people. So thrilled.
However, I have an issue with the payment and tipping procedure. When asked for gratuity amount at the counter upon exit, I gave a percentage for services rendered, which is typical. However, I was charged way more than expected, perhaps because it was based on the 'full retail price' of the services? With my membership, the fee is around $60, so the 15% should be of that amount, around $10. However, when I checked my receipt after the fact, it was 15% of approx. $100. instead. I love those guys, but like many, am on a budget.
Not okay. The tipping procedure is also very awkward. I have witnessed all clients awkwardly answering the hosts question of "Would you like to leave a gratuity?" in a crowded lobby setting. Most people love their service and would probably leave a big tip if they could, but most people must weigh that against their best intentions. That should be a private, silent decision.
Next time, I will bring cash and use the envelope, but perhaps you could make it a written thing, or keep a typical preferred gratuity on file so that you don't have to ask that awkward question out in the open. Also PLEASE be CLEAR what you are taking the percentage out of - the price we pay as regular members, or the 'full' retail price. That way we can tip accordingly, and often!
