I went in for a massage and facial; both my therapist and esthetician were very sweet and personable and did a great job. However, I don't like that one must pay extra for a deep tissue massage and sensitive skin facial. When I say I like deep pressure, I don't necessarily mean deep tissue, I just prefer firm pressure as opposed to a simple relaxation massage.
And when my skin was evaluated for my facial, my esthetician recommended a sensitive skin treatment which costs an extra $20. She said a regular one might irritate my skin due to the fact that it's really dry from the winter weather, so I felt like I had no choice.
What really bothered me about my visit was not the money, though. I had spent about 5 minutes checking out at the front desk and canceling my membership for financial reasons, and when I got to my car I noticed I had residual face mask all over my nose and near my hairline. I wasn't mad or anything, just happy I noticed it before I went and embarrassed myself in public. I couldn't get it off by myself so I went back in and asked to use their restroom. As kindly as I could, I recommended to the girl at the front desk that it is probably a good idea to let clients know when they have excess face mask on their face. Before she even got a chance to speak, a woman (who I am assuming is the manager) barked back at me "she WOULD have let you know, it is invisible until it dries". So, shes trying to tell me that it magically dried in the three seconds it took for me to walk to my car? Ok. Managers and store owners need to learn this- it is not what you say, it is how you say it. Even though you have authority, it does not give you a free pass to be an asshole, ESPECIALLY to your paying clients.
Needless to say, I am happy I canceled my membership and I will be using my remaining pre-paid sessions in Mays Landing.
