I was treated like a criminal when I was paying my bill. This treatment was over a $15 balance that was unpaid. Although my insurance had already paid them for these treatments, I had an $8 & $7 balance. We moved and I did not get the statements. As my "shame on you", I was forced to pay my entire bill, even though they were filing my insurance. I was told this is policy. I would receive a credit on my account once insurance paid. In all of the years of being a patient, I always paid my balances. I was left feeling embarrassed and like a criminal over $15 that I knew nothing about. I was told that I made an appointment back in 2016 and never showed up. They assumed I was running from a $15 balance....are you for real?!?! No, I assume I merely forgot about my teeth cleaning because MY DAUGHTER WAS FIGHTING CANCER during this time!!! I had other things on my mind than getting my teeth cleaned...not at silly measley $15. I didn't even remember I had an appointment. I am so disappointed. My family has found a new dentist family and will NOT recommend Harkins and Hancock to others. This makes me really sad, because the hygienist there are amazing. Dr. Hancock is amazing. Unfortunately, I realized yesterday that this establishment was greedy and only concerned with money. Yes, I had a small balance. Had I known about it earlier, I would have paid it. However, shaming a person over $15 & treating them like a criminal for it...unprofessional and petty...especially when you know your going to get the insurance payment. This was your way of "shaming" a person.
