I have been a patient of Hip Optics for a few years now and my visit on September 8, was very uncomfortable. I was asked is if I wanted to get extra views of my eyes, which was not covered by insurance. I responded No and the technician said, "He could possibly get the fees waived for me". So I then agreed. Proceeded with my appointment and went to check out and the receptionist said I owed $44.00 dollars, which I really didn't want to spend. As she processed my card, I was hesitant to ask if the fees could not get waived because their were other patients in the lobby. (Made me feel uncomfortable) The receptionist seemed to get frustrated with me for asking about waving fees. She asked me, "Who said that"? I pointed to the guy behind her. She looked at the guy as if he shouldn't have said that. My card was then charged and the receptionist said, "She could reverse the charge", but I got irritated at this point. I felt like the guy should have mentioned waived fees before check out, so it would have alleviated having to question it in the lobby as other patients listened in or not say it if it couldn't be done. I didn't need or want other patients in lobby to know my business and yet it made me feel like I was Cheap for a lack of a better word. As checking out took place, I asked for a new eye glass case and the other office employee said, "It wouldn't be of name brand and I said, That would be fine because I just needed a case. When she brought me the case the arms of my glasses were sticking out. I told her never mind, thinking to myself what good would that do. The whole check out process turned sour real fast! I have never felt like this before yesterday. It may seem like no big deal to staff, but I was felt humiliated. Needless to say, I nor my family won't be back to this office.
